Art Department
The Multi-National Award winning Art Department at Ouachita Christian School has represented the school well for over 35 years. Offering a variety of classes, students are engaged in a well rounded and diverse curriculum. Partnering with Mississippi College, students are challenged to the highest level through the Honors Art Program. Dual enrollment Fine Arts Survey classes are offered through Louisiana Tech University allowing students to receive additional Art History and Humanities background. Art I, Art II, Art III, Honors Art I Honors Art II, Honors Photography and Dual Enrollment Fine Art Survey are among the classes offered to all high school students. Early Art Education is also offered to lower grades after school as a feeder program to the department. As a result of this well-rounded education, Ouachita Christian has placed 1st in Fine Arts Survey at the State Literary Rally for the past several years. The department has produced award winning artwork including Gold and Silver Keys in the National Scholastic Awards, and places in the Congressional Art Competition as well as numerous other awards. The school Art Club and OCS chapter of the National Art Honor Society has adopted the Pre-Kindergarten classes at Jack Hayes Elementary School. These high school students mentor the young children through art and reading. They also help with their well being by providing clothes, shoes, and coats for any child in need.
